I'm not usually one to think my food should be mass-produced for all of America, or even the world, to consume. BUT THIS MISO-LEMON MAYO THOUGH. It is beyond addictive. It is just pure condiment crack. There's a reason why I named it "Holy Sh*t This Is Good" Miso-Lemon Mayo." Sure, Sriracha is great, ranch is a classic, and ketchup is, well, ketchup, but if I were to bottle this mayo and sell it, I honestly believe it would become the next big thing. OK, I might be partial because it has five of my all-time favorite ingredients, but you're going to have to just make some and see for yourself.
On that note, I'd like to add that it is insanely easy to whip up because it only consists of those five beloved ingredients I mentioned above. But for how few ingredients it has, it sure makes up for it in versatility. It goes great with fried chicken (pictured), sandwiches, french fries, potato wedges, chicken tenders, chicken wings, meatballs, eggs (it's like a more interesting hollandaise), potato salad, coleslaw, etc. Basically, anything that mayo would normally go in, substitute it with this ASAP. I made a similar sauce to go with my lemon-scented miso-walnut meatballs (are you sensing a trend here?). Recipe below. (You're welcome.)
Makes enough for a platter of 8 pieces of fried chicken
1/2 cup mayo
1 tablespoon white miso
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tablespoons apple cider
2 tablespoons honey
- Whisk all ingredients together in a sauce bowl until smooth.
*NOTE: You can tweak this recipe to suit your taste. For example, you can make it spicy by adding cayenne pepper or Sriracha or more lemony by adding lemon zest, or more savory by adding other Asian flavors like soy sauce, ginger, garlic, etc.
